Top Picks from Wildcraft Skincare + GWP!*

Hello everyone! I love supporting local businesses whenever possible, so when I discovered this Toronto-based green beauty brand at The Truth Beauty Company, I knew I had to give them a try. Fast forward a year later, and I have been fortunate to have been able to indulge in several Wildcraft products. Specializing in 100% natural skincare and handmade in small batches, Wildcraft is a fantastic option for those of you who are looking to green up your beauty routine and/or those who want to support this #girlboss-run business! Here are my top picks from Wildcraft (and keep reading for a special promo code):

  1. Calm and Cleanse: Chamomile and Honey Makeup Remover (4oz, $18.00 CDN) – This was the first product I tried from their range after Jen from Truth Beauty recommended it. This can also double as a cleansing oil (although I haven’t tried that method), but I find that it is a fantastic makeup remover. You do have to shake it up as separation does occur, but it definitely melts away even the most stubborn-waterproof eye makeup without burning your eyes! I love that my skin is also left feeling very hydrated, especially in the delicate eye area.
  2. Buff: Face and Body Scrub* (4oz, $18.00 CDN) – I LOVE how this makes my face feel fresh and tingly! Formulated with spearmint and 2 different types of clay, this scrub is perfect in the shower. Make sure you massage it VERY gently on your face as it is very grainy (you have to mix it with water in your hand) and you will be left with super smooth skin.
  3. Balance: Geranium Orange Blossom Toner (2oz, $16.00 CDN) – I never really got into spray toners until I picked up this baby. Not only is this a gentle everyday toner, this is also a fantastic skin refresher after a sweaty workout! I love the sweet and slightly citrusy scent and it definitely calms my skin down.
  4. Bergamot Rose Face Cream* (1oz, $16.00 CDN) – This has been a fantastic addition to my skincare routine as I can use it as a face cream (absorbs beautifully into the skin) and I’ve also been using it as almost a spot treatment for any blemishes that need a little bit more TLC. This has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties so it is perfect for summer, or those of us who may have combination or oily skin.
  5. All Purpose Salve (1oz, $12.00 CDN) – I bought this almost a year ago and truth be told – I misplaced it for a while. But when I rediscovered it during a big cleaning day, I was happy because it is a fantastic product for heat rashes or any type of  skin irritation (eczema included.) I find that it immediately soothes the affected area and stops it from itching. I think it’s the Calendula infused oil that helps calm everything down
  6. Fresh: Clary Sage and Lavender Deodorant* (2.7oz, $16.00 CDN) – I actually received this at the recent True Beauty Talk event since I had tried a bunch of their products already. This deodorant is the latest product in their range and I must say – the idea of a natural, spray deodorant was intriguing. I’d switched to natural deodorants within the last year after hearing about all sorts of junk in conventional brands so this was definitely up my alley. It smells super fresh and is even effective after an hour-long gym session. It is really important to let it dry completely first and don’t over-spray or you will have a sticky-pits situation. So if you’re in a mad rush, this MIGHT not be ideal for you, but if you have a minute or two, this is a fantastic alternative. Wildcraft has generously created a special promo code for all of my readers and followers who want to try out their line! When you enter code LCGift at checkout, you will receive a free 2oz bottle of their Calm and Cleanse: Makeup Remover with your order (NOTE: you have to add the 2oz bottle to your cart and the cost of it will be deducted from your total.) RECAP: True Beauty Talk 2017

Hello everyone! As most of my regular readers know, I am a HUGE fan of The Truth Beauty Company. I have been slowly but surely finishing up my conventional skincare products and swapping them for greener (and usually locally made) alternatives. So when I heard about the True Beauty Talk and how it would be a fantastic opportunity to check out all sorts of green beauty brands as well as support my girl Jennifer Freitas’ dream, I figured I would definitely have to find a way to attend. Unfortunately, I work until 3:05pm every day so I missed all of the discussion panels but made it just in time for the last hour and a bit of networking. I had seen Vo Bath & Co during my last visit to the Waterloo shop and was delighted to see the table at the event. A Toronto-based company with girlboss Diana Vo at the helm, Vo Bath & Co specializes in 100% natural bath and body products. The brand I was most excited to discover is a new player in the green beauty game called Basd. Also a Toronto-based company, I immediately fell in love with their brandind and packaging. When I was given the demo with the coffee scrub, body wash, and lotion, I was immediately hooked to the mint scent. I am SO excited for this up and coming company and cannot wait to see what they come up with next! So many different brands were there (see my Instagram stories for more info) and of course, The Truth Beauty Company had a table set up with a variety of popular green beauty brands.HUGE thank you to all of the brands for the amazing swag bag! I can’t wait to try all of these – this will take a while to get through and review haha.

I hope that this event will become an annual expo – it was absolutely fantastic and a great opportunity for bloggers, beauty enthusiasts, and brands alike.

For more information about all of the speakers and sponsors, please visit https://www.truebeautytalk.com. AND as always – for all of your green beauty needs, check out http://www.thetruthbeautycompany.com. Stay tuned for an actual Truth Beauty haul…and there may or may not be a promo code on the horizon 😉 Thanks so much for stopping by!

Current Skincare Routine

Hello everyone! Skincare is so important and I figured I’d share with you my current routine since it’s been a while since my last post about it. 2 of the products I bought on my own and 2 are from swag bags. It’s a pretty basic routine; if you’ve followed me for a while, you know that I’m generally on the lazier side haha.

Step 1: Indie Lee Brightening Facial Cleanser ($41.95 CDN from The Truth Beauty Company)
My good friend Jennifer (owner of The Truth Beauty Company) recommended this to me the last time I was searching for a new cleanser. It’s all natural and has a lovely light strawberry scent. This leaves my skin feeling clean and still well hydrated.

Step 2: Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Toner ($24.00 CDN from Kiehls.ca)
I’d been using the Kiehl’s Ultra Facial line for about 3 years before I started transitioning to green skincare. I do enjoy this toner – it works well to sooth my skin after coming out of the shower and removes any leftover residue before I put on my serum and moisturizer. When this is finished however, I will likely pick up either the Indie Lee or another natural toner to further green up my skincare game.

Step 3: Shiseido Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate* ($79.00 from thebay.com)
I received a bottle of this magical concentrate at the Shiseido Sparkle with Joy event with Dave Lackie about a year and a half ago and WOW. There is a reason why this Japanese brand has been a major icon in the beauty world since 1872. When I put this on my face (just 2-3 drops) before my moisturizer, it actually amps up the effect of it. Think of this as the Alfred to your skincare Batman. It prepares your skin for whatever you put over it and helps it work even better. It is a total splurge, but I can definitely see myself repurchasing this (cough cough probably when there’s a discount of some sort)

Step 4: Dr. Roebuck’s Face Cream* ($60.00 from beautyboutique.ca)
This jar was in my swag bag from the Dr. Roebuck’s Fall 2016 launch and boy am I glad they are now available in Canada. Made from 100% natural ingredients, this moisturizer is not too thick but not too thin or greasy and absorbs beautifully in the skin.

What’s your current skincare routine? Do you have any green skincare recommendations? Let me know in the comments. Thanks so much for stopping by!

The Truth Beauty Company: Guelph

Hello everyone! The Truth Beauty Company recently opened up their 2nd location and I popped in the other day to check it out. Located in downtown Guelph, the new store is bright and beautiful and full of beloved green beauty and skincare brands. There are also certain products that are exclusive to the Guelph shop (ie: Kosas Cosmetics) and more exciting things are on the way.Beautiful front display window! Just a bit smaller than the Waterloo store, but I love the open and airy feel of this one! I am so happy for Jen and this exciting new addition to her Truth Beauty life. If you’re in or around Guelph, you definitely need to stop in! There’s lots of cute little shops on Quebec Street and also an awesome juice bar (Refresh Juice Co.) so next time, I will definitely be spending some more time there! The Truth Beauty Company is located at 46 Quebec Street in downtown Guelph. You can also visit their original location in Waterloo at 46 King St N (lower level) or shop online at http://www.thetruthbeautycompany.com.

Another Wee Haul from The Truth Beauty Company

Hello everyone! Every time I’m in the tri-city area, I always make it a point to pop into The Truth Beauty Company. That store continues to be my happy place; I always have great conversations with the owner, Jen, and I get to discover new products at each visit. I obviously never leave without buying at least 3 things, so here’s what I picked up this time:Ilia Beauty Illuminator in Cosmic Dancer: I actually swatched this the last time I was in the store but decided to pass on it since I was already gathering a fair sized haul. I couldn’t stop thinking about it for weeks so I decided that it would have to come home with me this time. I generally opt for powder highlighters but the convenience of the stick was appealing to me. It is a gorgeous and natural looking champagne-gold highlighter that blends so easily into my skin. Definitely travel friendly.
RMS Beauty Eye Polish in Solar: This cream eyeshadow is organic (amazing!) and when I swatched it in the store, I immediately fell in love. It is a bronze shade (which is my cup of tea) but shines a bit on the copper-orange side in some lights which is so beautiful. Colour payoff and lasting power is impressive for green beauty and I will definitely be splurging on at least one more.
Schmidt’s Deodorant for Sensitive Skin (Geranium-scented): I raved about the original Bergamot and Lime deodorant but the only thing that was tricky was the fact that it contains granules which can be abrasive if you’re not careful. This is a newer item at Truth Beauty and contains no baking soda and since it is formulated for sensitive skin, it is very smooth. I decided to put it through the ultimate test and put it on before doing 40 minutes of cardio, 20 minutes of weights, and then an hour of a core/strength power yoga class (and yes, it is hot yoga.) I am thoroughly impressed as the geranium scent was still present after all that! I will NEVER go back to conventional deodorants – I am sticking with Schmidt’s for life! Here’s Solar and Cosmic Dancer – these will definitely be my go-to items for the summer. Here’s the look I put together using the shadow and the highlighter. I decided to pair Solar with Burberry Eye Colour Cream No. 102 Mink which is a gorgeous medium taupe to add a bit more depth in my non-existent crease. I would totally wear Solar on its own though because the colour is perfection. The highlight doesn’t show up as much in this photo but I can assure you it’s a really soft glow (or perhaps that’s why my skin looks glowy? Whatever lol. I’ll say it’s the illuminator AND I have to also mention the Diorskin Forever Everwear Primer I’m wearing…which I talk about in my next video…up soon!)

Anyway if you’re in Waterloo or around there, go pay The Truth Beauty Company a visit and pick up some green beauty and skincare that you can feel good about! OR if you’re super far away, keep in mind that you can always order online at http://www.thetruthbeautycompany.com AND use my promo code, “StayGorgeous” for 15% off your order! This is not an affiliate link and this post is not sponsored! I just genuinely love this store.

Brows for Brunettes and Blondes: EcoBrow in Liz and Marilyn

Hello everyone! One of my main beauty mantras is “Brows over everything.” Why? Because brows have the power to really tie together your look and on low maintenance days can be all the difference. For the last 3ish years, I’ve called the Cle de Peau #204 my Holy Grail brow pencil. Since buying EcoBrow however, I’ve barely reached for it.
From Ecobrow.com: Marco Ochoa knows beauty. But in his 11 years as an expert brow threader and celebrity makeup artist, he felt there was something missing. “Through my research I discovered that there were only a few natural brow lines on the market — mostly pencils or powders — and my concern was that they either looked too ashy or too fake, neither of which are acceptable.” When Marco began work on his own line, he knew he had to arrive at a universal product that matched every skin tone, stayed true to his philosophy of responsible, eco-conscious beauty and lived up to the standards of the best makeup artists in the world. The result is the EcoBrow Defining Wax, Marco’s own mineral-based, smudge-proof, paraben-free brow line. Nylon gives this hybrid wax/gel its luxuriously smooth texture and long-lasting, cream-to-powder finish. The unique EcoBrow formula blends and diffuses easily into the brow hair, and contains silica for oil absorption as well as nourishing Vitamin E. The intensity of each shade can be controlled easily with the application — you can go as light or dark as you’d like. Marco named the shades in the line after some of his favorite screen goddesses through the ages. Now thanks to him, every woman – whether she’s a Marilyn, Sharon, Rita, Penelope, Liz and Frida can look and feel like a Hollywood icon.” Continue reading

Top 5 Picks from The Truth Beauty Company

Hello everyone! As I’ve mentioned before, green beauty is really blowing up and I’ve decided that in terms of skincare, I will officially be all green once my Kiehl’s runs out. My go-to store for all things natural and organic is The Truth Beauty Company. If you haven’t read my overview or watched my recent haul, please refer to this post. If you’re newer to natural and organic products, it can be really overwhelming and you may even experience price tag shock since as we all know, you can get conventional drugstore skincare for a fraction of the cost. In terms of quality, performance, and even ethical production – you really cannot compare these products. Anyway, as mentioned in my haul video, The Truth Beauty Company has generously created a coupon code for you to get 15% off your online purchase which I’ve included at the end of this post. I figured it would be helpful however to share with you my top 5 picks from Truth Beauty to help you start filling your online cart!1. Schmidt’s Natural Deodorant in Bergamot + Lime ($12.95 CDN) – I was very curious about natural deodorants especially since I was not very impressed with the popular Lavanila. In the past, I had only seen other natural deodorants in paste/liquid form and I had no desire to slather my pits every day with my hands (no judgment!) When I saw the Schmidt’s range on display I was intrigued and when I smelled the Bergamot and Lime scent, I knew I needed it in my life! According to Paige (one of the Truth Beauty experts who was working that day), they had just been set out and were already flying off the shelves. While of course it doesn’t have the typical 48 hour lasting power claim (which really…are you not showering for 2 days?) it does the trick for a full day including a sweaty gym session. One thing to be mindful of however – if you’ve just shaved your underarms, be gentle when applying this since it does contain granules which will be abrasive if you apply too forcefully (trust me, I did this and it was a slightly painful few days.) All in all, a fantastic natural deodorant that is still less expensive and more effective than Lavanila.

2. Fig+Yarrow Clay Mask {Gold} ($24.95 CDN) – I was already a fan of Fig+Yarrow’s Cardamom and Coffee Scrub (yes because of Estee Lalonde) so I knew that their products were of great quality. In my great journey into the world of face masks, I decided to pick up a jar of this gold clay. While it does not look particularly pretty on your face, the effect is well worth it. You mix this with water (or if you’re feeling fancy, honey and yogurt) and spread it evenly around your face and wait for it to dry (about 10-15 minutes.) When dry, I take a warm wet towel to take it off and my skin is left feeling hydrated, smooth, and supple. Perfect for #SaturdayNightSkincare sessions or any time you want to relax and rejuvenate.

3. Cocoon Apothecary Magic Bean Body Lotion ($24.95 CDN) – If you have no interest in smelling absolutely delicious I suppose you can pass on this one. It’s a dark chocolate scented body lotion that is made in Kitchener, Ontario with all certified organic ingredients! It is lightweight, not greasy, and quick-absorbing. This was an impulse buy with my last haul but I am so glad I picked it up.

4. Graydon Berry Rich Cream ($31.95 CDN) – Based in the Riverdale community of Toronto, Graydon focuses on clinical luxury using the finest natural ingredients. The Berry Rich cream is made with Canadian berry seed oils (and it has a faint scent of berries – I wasn’t hallucinating!) and can also double as an eye cream. It is as the name suggests, very rich however not heavy and also absorbs into the skin beautifully. This is definitely my new HG face cream!

5. Wildcraft Calm and Cleanse Makeup Remover ($21.95 CDN) – This product can actually double as a makeup remover and a cleansing oil (especially for people who have yet to discover the greatness that are cleansing oils.) It is made with chamomile and honey and also witch hazel which helps draw out impurities in the skin. The main idea to keep in mind with this one is that because it separates, you have to make sure you shake it every time you use it, or else the witch hazel may be a bit too harsh. I mentioned this in my video, but I love that this does not sting and removes waterproof eye makeup beautifully – AND there’s no need to rinse! I highly recommend this to anyone who is tired of using the conventional makeup removers and want to keep their skincare as green as possible.

If you’re interested in any of these products, please feel free to shop and use the code StayGorgeous for 15% off your online purchase! If you spend over $75, you can also use their free shipping code (Free75) on top of the 15% off to get the best deal! (Yes you read that correctly – you can stack these codes.) They ship all throughout Canada and the US (so American chums, take advantage of that exchange rate!) Please feel free to share your haul with me and support small business and of course, green beauty! If you have any questions about anything I’ve mentioned, please feel free to leave it in the comments and I will get back to you ASAP.

Thanks so much for stopping by!
