Hello everyone! I basically became a fan of Chrissy Teigen because of her Twitter presence and her awesome cookbook (one of my birthday gifts from the HF.) So when I saw that she was collaborating with Becca Cosmetics to create a highlight/blush/bronzer palette, I knew it would have to be mine. Considering how much I love my Jaclyn Hill palette, I figured it would be just as amazing.Packaging-wise, they are pretty much the same in terms of material. Both are plastic with a slightly raised cover. Both have mirrors that are the same size as the palette surface and do not have the names of the shade imprinted (something that would be helpful but ehhh not absolutely necessary.)The Chrissy Teigen palette contains 2 highlighters (Rose Gold in the top left, Beach Nectar on bottom right), a bronzer (Malibu Soleil), and a blush (Hibiscus Bloom). Swatches from top to bottom: Rose Gold, Hibiscus Bloom, Beach Nectar, and Malibu Soleil. As you can see, Rose Gold is definitely a bit deeper, almost coppery as a highlight whereas Beach Nectar is a peachier-champagne tone. Hibiscus Bloom is a beautiful medium pink with strong pigmentation (a little goes a long way!) and Malibu Soleil is a warm bronze. Formulation-wise, these are basically the same as the Jaclyn Hill palette – blends easily and beautifully on the skin creating a summery glow. This is definitely a palette that is well-suited for my fellow medium-skin-toned friends! Here I’m wearing Beach Nectar, Hibiscus Bloom, and Malibu Soleil:
Upon first glance, these 2 palettes might seem similar – but when you look closer – there ARE differences. The highlighters in the Jaclyn Hill palette are gold and champagne, whereas the ones in the Chrissy Teigen are definitely more rose and peach toned. Hibiscus Bloom looks similar to Pamplemousse, however it leans a bit more on the red side when actually applied. Amaretto is a blush and looks like it could be a bronzer, however it is definitely more of a muted deeper dusty rose whereas Malibu Soleil is totally a bronzer. So the obvious question here is – do you need both?
Well…if you’re a highlight addict then this is obviously a must.
If you don’t have any blush/highlighting palettes, then it’s definitely a good choice!
If you already have the Jaclyn Hill palette and a bronzer you swear by, then no, you don’t NEED it. It is a nice to have item, especially since limited edition palettes tend to go quickly.
