Smashbox Cover Shot Palette in Golden Hour

Hello everyone! I popped into Sephora a few weeks ago and noticed the new Smashbox Cover Shot palettes were available. Featuring 7 different colourways (including one sold-out online exclusive), these new travel friendly palettes have something for everyone. They all have a holographic case which I think it a fun touch. After literally researching, swatching, and humming and hah-ing for 40 minutes in the store, I finally decided on Golden Hour. This palette includes some matte and shimmer shades with some beautiful warm golds and the prettiest jewel toned purple ever. The only drawback I found with these shadows is that there is a bit of fallout even after tapping off the excess first. So the only tip is to do your shadow first so you can clean up without messing up your base.
I like that the 2 larger colours on top can be used as a transition colour and a base. All of these shades work well together no matter what combination you use. Here are the swatches – the bottom 2 swatches are the top shades in the palette, followed by the shadows going left to right (in the palette.)I apologize for the change of lighting/tone and size of these photos – but I had to get these photos when I had natural light, even if it was first thing in the morning before work!

Despite the fallout issue, these shadows are very easy to work with and blend beautifully. I’m hoping to pick up another one of these (which one? Who knows. I am interested in Ablaze, however that is the one that is both an online exclusive and currently sold out.)

The Smashbox Cover Shot Palettes ($35) are available now at Sephora and Sephora.com. For the price and the smaller format, I think these are definitely worth a try, especially if you don’t have a lot of eyeshadow palettes and are looking to step up your game without committing to a giant palette.

Have you picked up any of the Cover Shots? Let me know! Thanks so much for stopping by!
