Hello everyone! Chanel is one of the most iconic and classic brands in the fashion and beauty industry. Throughout the years, it has established itself as being the epitome of feminine class. In terms of makeup, it is obviously considered a luxury brand with the ability to release beautiful and wearable collections for women of all skin colours. It is only however with the debut of their new Global Creative Makeup and Colour Designer – Lucia Pica that the most recent releases have had more bold colours. Fall 2016 was no exception with the Le Rouge Collection No 1, filled with different spins on the classic red lip (which you KNOW is my jam!)
The Rouge Allure Velvet lipsticks are my favourite mostly because of the packaging. Housed in a sleek black case with the classic Chanel name printed on the bottom, it definitely looks chic. The best part however is that to open the lipstick, you get to push the gold tube and it just pops up to be able to pull out.
I was a little late to the game so I missed out on the darker LE colour in the range, but managed to snag the next most popular pick (it has since been made permanent) – #58 Rouge Vie. This is actually my first ever Chanel red – my other two are peach and fuschia.
Rouge Vie is described as a muted, medium reddish plum that definitely runs on the warmer side. On me, it is almost just like a muted brick red which is sort of reminiscent of the Bite Beauty Maple Matte Cream I have…which actually now upon comparison, the Chanel definitely is more plummy.
The only thing I’m not crazy about with the Rouge Allure Velvets is the scent. Although not overpowering or overly offensive, it does have the signature perfumey smell which is apparent upon initial application, but definitely fades relatively quickly. While it is not particularly hydrating, it doesn’t really dry out my lips either. The colour lasted for about 4-5 hours on me before I had to reapply.
Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet lipstick 58 Rouge Vie ($43 CDN) is available now at all Chanel counters (Hudson’s Bay, Holt Renfrew, Saks, Nordstrom, select Shoppers Drug Mart stores.)
Do you have a Chanel red or a favourite shade from this range? Let me know! Thanks so much for stopping by!
