Hello everyone! The HF and I recently went to one of his favourite restaurants in Hamilton for dinner called Bean Bar. It reminds me a lot of Waterloo-staple Symposium, since the menu has tons of variety and of course, there are a bunch of beautiful cakes in a cold display case just begging you to try them. We started off with the Bean Bar Bruschetta ($15) that had sundried tomato, portobello, basil, caramelized onion, chevre, and mozzarella on toasted potato scallion bread (!) The vegetables all had strong flavours but worked well with each other and was accented by the cheese and of course the drizzle of balsamic reduction.I decided to order one of their newer dishes which is the Braised Beef Cheeks ($17). This was absolutely delicious – the cheeks were so moist and tender and the polenta fries were a fantastic addition. The vegetables were pretty standard (but was a nice balance for all the richness.) I even had enough for lunch the next day and it was still delicious. I would definitely order this again! Now of course, you can’t sit me next to a bunch of cakes especially when it’s that time of the month and expect me to not order dessert. Our waitress gave me the cake walk and after a few minutes of deliberation, I chose the Peanut Butter Cookie Monster ($8…I believe). The HF originally said he wasn’t going to have any but we ended up sharing because it was THAT good. Layers of super soft peanut butter cookies…OMG. It was exactly what I was craving.
I totally understand why the HF loves Bean Bar and I cannot wait to come back to try out more from their menu (and obvi more of their cakes.)
