Hello everyone! Some people may balk at the idea of a $32 nail polish (remember, Louboutin polishes range from $50 to a whopping $675 for the LE) but really, when it comes to Chanel, sometimes you just have to treat yo’self. Unlike most conventional nail polishes that may be 3-free, Chanel polishes are 5-free which means they are completely free of formaldehyde, dibutyl phthalate, toluene, formaldehyde resin and camphor. The new Longwear Nail Colour line was released with SS16 and features 15 colours and of course a gel topcoat which contain Bioceramics and Ceramides that claim to help improve the quality of your nails. While I’m always game to try new nail colours, time and time again I have been disappointed by most “gel” topcoats (except Essie – see post here) so instead of splurging on the Chanel topcoat, I stuck with my HG topcoat, Seche Vite.
I picked up 518 Chaine Or, a beautiful metallic gold (which as of right now has been pulled from counters because apparently they sent it for further testing…but good news – my nails haven’t fallen off LOL. Nah, I was told that they are very particular about formulation and if it’s not up to the “high standards” of Chanel, they won’t release it) and 512 Mythique which is a beautiful deep merlot creme. Chaine Or is a bit streaky even after 2 coats which is fairly characteristic of nail polishes with a metallic finish. Mythique is pictured below (sorry for the not so perfect application LOL.) Both wore perfectly for 5 days with minor tipwear on the 6th and finally chipped on day 7. In comparison with the old formula, it’s definitely an improvement (the older polishes only stayed on perfectly for 2-3 days on me.) Like I said, sometimes you’ve just gotta treat yourself – however if $29 is too steep to justify for you, the Formula X polishes at Sephora have NEVER let me down (5-7 days of PERFECT wear!)The Chanel Le Vernis Longwear Nail Colour collection is permanent and available now at all Chanel counters (Hudson’s Bay, Holt Renfrew, select Shoppers Drug Mart/Murale locations) an oddly not sold online (in Canada at least.)
Do you own any Chanel polishes? Which colour would you like to splurge on? Let me know!
Thanks so much for stopping by!
