Wet n Wild 1 Step Wonder Gel Nail Polish*

Hello everyone! As you know from my previous post, I recently had the pleasure of going to the Wet n Wild Spring Preview with my new friend, Maria. One of the most exciting new releases from Wet n Wild this year are the 1 Step Wonder Gel nail polishes. (As of 02/12/16, I have not seen them in any Canadian stores yet, however they were released in January in the US so hopefully they will arrive soon!) I got to pick from the full collection, however did not opt to get every colour (there are 18 shades in all.)

From Wet n Wild: “Developed with reactive technology similar to that used for durability and shine of dental veneers, the new wet n wild® 1-Step Wonder Gel will get her the results of a salon-quality gel manicure — No top coat or UV light required! […] wet n wild®’s 1-Step Wonder Gel is chip resistant and 3Free with no Formaldehyde, Toluene and Phthalates.”

Although no topcoat is required, I never feel right without my beloved Seche Vite so I applied it anyway. The polish had very minor tipwear around day 4/5, and didn’t chip until day 7. All in all, very impressive for a drugstore brand. All of the swatches below are just of the polish – no topcoat so you can see how it shines! *EDIT: I see a lot of searches for “how to remove” this polish – you can use just regular nail polish remover! It’s not actually gel 🙂
Bye Feluschia! is a pearly fuschia and was perfectly opaque in 2 coats.Pardon My Peach is a peach cream that also took 2 coats.
Lavender Out Loud is a muted pastel purple – probably my favourite of the range. 2 coats.Missy In Pink is a medium pink cream. This one took 3 coats and was pretty streaky for the first 2.
Left Marooned was opaque in 2 coats and is a deep blue-toned red. Not maroon but still nice.Stay Classy is a muted dusty rose-nude. Also a beautiful colour that took 2 coats for opacity.
Under My Plum is a deep berry-plum. A very nice colour for fall/winter, again, 2 coats.Pinky Swear is a pale pastel pink that was probably my least favourite from the bunch. It was streaky (light colours are notorious for this), took 3 coats, and started bubbling.
It’s Sher-Bert Day! is a bright, warm pink. Probably my 2nd favourite in the collection! 2 coats.Crime of Passion is a brighter, true red. 2 coats was perect, however you can sort of see it was bubbling as well.
Cyan-tific Method is a peacock blue cream that took 3 coats.
Power Outage is a black polish (obviously) that required 3 coats. Peri-Winkle Of An Eye is a pretty periwinkle blue, however was streaky. 3 coats to even out.

I am not all about 1 coat wonders, however I generally feel most comfortable with shades that take 2. 3 is ok especially for lighter/streakier colours, so overall I am very satisfied with the quality of formulation.

Will you try any of the 1 Step Wonder Gel polishes? Which colour(s) do you have your eyes on? Let me know! Thanks so much for stopping by!
