Hello everyone! I was fortunate to have won an invite to Dave Lackie’s latest event at the Arcadian Court – just in time for the holidays! This one was hosted by Dave and Shiseido Canada; a brand that is definitely well known internationally with its rich history originating in Japan. Founded in 1872 (same year as Alpha Phi!), Shiseido is one of the oldest beauty brands in the world. While I have never personally owned a Shiseido product until now, my earliest memory of this brand is from when I was a child, taking my mom’s Shiseido lipstick compact and putting on the sheer red lip colour with a retractable lip brush. My mom didn’t wear makeup regularly, but I remember really liking when she put on red lipstick (I wonder why it took me so long!?)I arrived just a touch after 6pm and sat down next to my friend Zubie (@livingthegrey) and settled in. At our place settings was the menu for the evening, a mini bottle of Prosecco with our Twitter handles, the popular Shiseido Honey Cake soap (only comes out during the holidays and sells out quickly since they are the perfect hostess gifts), and a wishlist. They had tables set up along the windows of the room showcasing the different products that WE would get to choose for our gift bag! I was so excited since usually you just wait for the surprise of the gift bag, however choosing was a really special touch. This allowed us to really tailor our picks to our personal preferences. As per usual, the decor was beautiful and enhanced the atmosphere. This table featured the mascara and liquid lipsticks. We got to swatch and then choose our colour between Dollface (pale Barbie-pink), Tango (deep berry mauve), and Sanguine (a true red)…can you guess which one I picked? The other tables featured their different skincare products including a lash primer, face primer, serums, and the newest addition to the Shiseido range, the Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate. The dinner was amazing of course. Oliver and Bonacini never disappoints. This was the Lollo Rossa, Frisee, and Treviso salad with fennel, orange, crumbled Brebiac cheese, and a tarragon vinagrette: The main course was a succulent Sage and Honey Glazed Chicken Supreme with creamed rutabaga, herb roasted potato, and chardonnay jus.The dessert was spectacular: Cinnamon Apple Crumble with Tahitian vanilla ice cream. It was accented by caramel and a raspberry(?) coulis. Also present at the event (but only for the first little bit) was now former President and CEO of Shiseido Canada (he was recently promoted and will be leaving to head back to Japan!) Hitoshi Okamoto and Vice President, Elaine Shigeishi. Both were incredibly warm and friendly and so clearly passionate about their work. Our gift boxes were assembled during dinner and it was beautifully packaged. Here’s what I ended up choosing:
-Ultimune Power Infusing Concentrate
-White Lucent Total Brightening Serum
-Makeup Glow Enhancing Primer
-Lacquer Rouge in RD529 Tango (you thought I’d get Sanguine, didn’t you? TBH I have so many reds and I prefer a matte finish for reds)
-Full Lash Volume Mascara in Black
All in all, it was a wonderful evening and I am so grateful to have had the chance to meet Elaine Shigeishi and Hitoshi Okamoto. Thank you so much to Dave Lackie and of course, Shiseido Canada for an unforgettable night!
Have you/do you use any Shiseido products? What are your top picks from their range? Let me know! Stay tuned for the vlog of this event! Thanks so much for stopping by!
