Review: Bad to the Bronze vs. Bronzed Taupe

Hey everyone – here is a review of two very comparable products from Maybelline and L’Oreal. On the left is the L’Oreal Infallible eyeshadow in Bronzed Taupe and on the right is Maybelline Color Tattoo in Bad to the Bronze. As you can see, these 2 look very similar in the package.

The L’Oreal Infallible is a pressed powder eyeshadow, whereas the Maybelline Color Tattoo is cream based. I definitely like the staying power of the cream base, and I’ve used both on my eyes with the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Sin.20120923-114647.jpg
L’Oreal is on the left, Maybelline on the right. Again, still looking pretty similar (probably the lighting).20120923-114604.jpg

L’Oreal on the left, Maybelline on the right again. Here is where you can see a slight difference. The pressed powder provides a richer colour and in my opinion, you can also see that there is more of a taupe shade to it. The cream is a bit lighter, but in that sense it is very buildable.

So which one is better? They’re both very similar in colour, and not too far from each other price-wise (Infallible is around 8.96 and Color Tattoo was 5.96 at Walmart). I do like the Infallible shade, but would prefer it in the cream base of Color Tattoo for staying power. The Primer Potion helped, but it just didn’t last as long as CT. Both are really pretty metallic neutrals that jazz up just the plain neutral eye. In terms of quality and staying power however, I would say Maybelline Color Tattoo comes out on top. I know they also have Tough as Taupe in their line, but didn’t love it when swatched in store.

Please feel free to comment on what other things you’d like to see reviews on! I’ll probably do one on my current brush collection soon, which includes brushes from Elf, Sigma, Tokidoki, Mac, and Sephora. Thanks for reading!

Yeah those are eyeshadows. I actually haven’t worn bronzer in over a year…I am interested in the Stila One-Step Bronze or the Nars bronzer however. I’ll keep you posted. I was previously using a Sugar bronzer/blush duo.
